Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins is an Mexican American journalist. She is currently working as a sportscaster at ESPN and is an anchor of SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. She started working at ESPN in 2016. She is the daughter television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual since the time she turned nine. It is this skill that helped her get her first role as a Univision Production Assistant in Miami. She was a producer for national shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Her first job was as a reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate after that. She moved in 2009 to Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as a news reporter for the Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Her stories covered immigration, drug trafficking, and various other topics on the Texas and Mexico border. Additionally, she worked as an anchor and Spanish reporter on the newscast at 5 p.m., an anchor and reporter on the newscast at nine p.m. in English and again a Spanish reporter at 10 p.m. In addition, she was frequently required to act as an anchor for sports and weather. She then anchored and reported on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She covered the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. She also served as the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. In the same capacity she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports show). Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. She was born November 22 the 22nd of November, 1985, in Mexico City. There is a sister. In 1992 her family left Mexico and relocated to Miami. They divorced shortly thereafter and in 1995 her mother got married to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. The summer of the year 2006, Antonietta took an entire week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was employed at the time. Antonietta had just graduated high school, however she knew her plans for what she would accomplish. The campus was a dream for her. They also offered her the major that she desired. When she finished her high school education, she chose to go to the university with a major with Media Studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor - was also the director of WRMU (91.1 FM), where she belonged. He was the one who boosted her confidence, and his passion for Journalism deeply touched her. As a result, she was determined to exceed his expectations, never letting him down.
